1 Kings 17:13 And Elijah said to her Do not fear go and do s you have said but make me a small cake from it first and bring it to meand afterward make
some for yourself and your son.
V.14 For thus saith the Lord God of Isreal the bin of flour shall not be used nor shall the jar of oil run dry until the day the Lord sends rain to the earth.
The story in first Kings where Elijah tells the widow not to fear and make him a cake with the last of her oil and flour. I can only imagine what was going through that poor womans head when he was asking her this. She probably thought he was crazy. But the next thing out of his mouth was if you make me a cake you will never run of flour and oil. As the point she pobably thought Elijah was nuts. But also the womans son was dead and Elijah brought him back to life.
Sometimes we lack faith in the promises that God has promised us. I am sure that the widow lacked faith during this time as we all do. But I really don’t want to focus on whether or not she lacked faith or not. I’m going to look at this portion of scripture from a different angle. I’m going to take this portion of scripture and try to show you how it can be used to bring revival.
When a church is on life support or dying it can be raised from being dead just as the widows son was in this passage. It can be rasied through prayer and fasting and falling back in love with the word.I believe the flour and oil can represent unity with in the church body so that body of believers can have revival. Revival never through laziness but it comes through putting our shoulders to the grindstone. But we also have to show unity in everything that we do as a church body because if a new convert sees disunity with in the ranks we have lost them in more ways than one. But also where there is disunity there will be no healings.
So, in concluison I will like to say that it takes faith and unity to see revival come to pass. But also God has to bring that church body to a breaking point so he can bring bring revival to those group of believers. He will raise a body of believers from the brink death so his will can be done and not our will. As long as a church is in disunity it will never have a revival or be changed. As he begins to feed and refresh his troops with his word he will send a might revival. We are the ones that needs to receive his cake of plenty by faith and go foward.
