Lots wife and the Dead Sea connection.

As we all know that the Dead Sea is one of the saltiest bodies of water on earth.  We also know that Lot’s was turned into a pillar of salt when she turned to look as Sodom and Gomorrah were being destroyed. Could these two things be connected. I have always if there are could this be the place where God turned Lots wife into a pillar of salt. That could explain why the Dead Sea is so salty. I don’t believe that it is a coincidence.

  1. Thank you for your like of my Black Lives Matter and Mr. Sanders blog. According from the Encyclopedia Britannica, The Dead Sea is a lake and was lower during Lot’s time, but it did not start with his wife. Sodom and Gomorrah were two cities along the lake that were destroyed because of their wickedness.

  2. Precisely, Genesis 13: 8-12 says that Lot chose the cities of the plain back when Abraham gave him the first pick as to where he wanted to go when the two separated. Why did he chose that place? Because it was “well watered like the Garden of the Lord…” fertile and full of vegetation which means ample fresh water flowing. After the fire and brimstone fell from heaven, the whole place burned up and with each rain since then has been washing into the lake from that time some 4000 years now. I have swam in the dead sea back in 2010 and have tasted the bitterness of the water not just salty. The salinity is so high that I can float with my head and shoulders above the water holding my knees above as well. Then it donned on me, I am swimming in dead men’s ashes. Yikes. You can still pick out the sulfur balls out of the rocks and “buildings”. Josephus the historian said that in his day they still observed the cities among them. If you look at a Google image of the area, you can see the white ash of the 5 cities of the plains still there from the incident as compared to the surrounding brown tan regions of the desert.

  3. It was amazing, you almost could not stay upright as the buoyancy tries to roll you over. Don’t get it in your eyes or your done. It is so bitter.
