Roman Centurion

Matt8:9 For I myself a man under authority ,with soliders under me. I  tell this one, ‘Go’ and he goes;and that one, ‘Come’, and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’and he does it”.

One of the reasons why the Roman Centurion understood the authority of Jesus is because he led men himself. So he had a kinship with Jesus. He also understood about men disobeying and how to reprimand them. I have always thought this shows a beautiful picture of Jesus’ leadership being shown through the  Roman Centurion. And it also shows submission. When we are not submitted it will be hard for us to be obedient to what he wants us to do.

  1. The Roman Centurion also teaches, I believe, that those who claim not to know what good thing to do are most definitely not being truthful. We should learn from a gentile person. We should do all we can to come at the feet of Jesus in perfect submission, like Mary (Mary means ‘bitterness and rebellion’), the sister of Lazarus ( it is the Hebrew ‘El`azar, meaning: ‘God (is) helper’). When we jettison the ‘Mary’ in us and seek ‘God as our helper’, the Holy Spirit is just too eager and glad to help us through it all (i.e. the narrow paths), Amen. Nice work arm5.

Yes it so much easier to learn from a soft spoken person than a one that is harsh.
